Cinema Challenge {and plenty more craft fair stuff}

First up is my submission for the Cinema Saturday Challenge. The requirement was to use a crown in your project and when I pulled this paper from my stash I knew it was perfect.

Their movie this week was Elizabeth. (Either one) I didn't see the latest yet, but I did see the other one....a while back. I do remember that the Queen was quite her own person. So the sentiment "Be Yourself, everyone else is taken," seemed to fit the bill. I love making these DVD tins. (Not my original idea--I've seen them all over the web.)

They make really cute gifts and I'm hoping they will be popular at the craft fair I'm participating in. Perfect Day papers....

I decided to do some with a little decorated magnet in them. Key to my Heart papers...

One for Christmas lists. Evensong Creative Basic papers...

One for keeping score. This paper is not CTMH...

Cinema Saturday Challenge #39 Guest Designer!

I am so excited to share with you some wonderful news! I was asked to be a guest designer this week at Cinema Saturday Challenge to create a card using the inspiration movie "To Kill A Mockingbird".

I must say I was giddy like a little school girl to learn I had been chosen because of the card I submitted for the High School Musical challenge. But the pressure was on. I took on my assignment like an undercover agent. Working covertly under cover of darkness so as not to reveal the secret identity of the movie before it's unveiling. How do these design team members do it? I would break out in a cold sweat worrying that my post would go live before it was supposed to and let everyone know the movie early! Oh the pressure!!

But alas, let me tell you about my card. I immediately thought of the scales of justice when I thought of this movie. I began searching the internet for images and then came across this image of blindfolded Lady Justice. It was haunting to me and I knew I had to use it. I also searched for an image of the Declaration of Independence to use as a backdrop since freedom and justice go hand in hand. Here's my card.

When printing the image, my printer made a hazy print with grainy lines running through it. Just my luck! But I colored the image black, sponged Versamark on it and embossed it in black. I actually love the silhouette image of Lady Justice over the backdrop of the Declaration of Independence.

But can I be honest here? We're all friends right? Cutting out those teeny tiny chains on the scales of justice with an Exact-o knife nearly drove me to the brink of insanity. Do you think I could get a lawyer like Gregory Peck to defend me?

Oh and please no one tell me how easy it would have been to photoshop the image in. Where is the scrapbooking in that? Ha! Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #37

A few weeks ago I played along with this challenge when they had Twilight as their theme. This week I guessed correctly from the sneak peeks that the movie was High School Musical, so I figured I better play along again!!



The requirements were to use school lettering and of course be inspired by the movie (any of the three HSMs). I immediately think of Sharpay, the diva of the show, who is always seen in pink.

Argyle print always makes me think of preppy school wear, and the fact that I had some in pink was like a neon sign screaming...pick me! I had to add bling somewhere for Sharpay and of course the sentiment is because of her diva attitude. I don't know if you can tell, but the dress is covered in Prisma glitter. Spar-kle!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #32

I've been watching this challenge for awhile now. But this week they are using the movie Twilight for their theme and DUH I had to play along. Even Little D wanted to make a Twilight-themed card. And she bugged me and bugged me until I sat down and did it.




The requirements were to use the colors red and black and something *sparkley*.



Guess who I needed to make an anniversary card for this week? Ding, ding, ding--what do we have for her Johnny? That's right, my inlaws. Now I don't get that hot mushy love vibe from them, (Thank God) so I doubt this card will be used for their anniversary. But it would make a cool card for someone's anniversary... Of course that means I still have to make their card.

I used black embossing powder, which I love, and some rhinestones to add sparkle. And here is Little d's card. She was sooo excited to play along with a challenge, that you may being seeing her work on here more often.

I love that when she needs to stick a ribbon down she says "mom I need some of those glue dots!"
