Christmas Card Challenge #9

I haven't yet decided if this year I will send out different cards to everyone or use my new digi image from Karen's Doodles to create a family Christmas card, but either way, I'm going to play along with Sparkle's weekly Christmas Card Challenge when I get the chance.

This week is an inspiration challenge--to gather inspiration from this photo which is utterly beautiful.

I not only love the colors, but I love the sparkle and composition as well. Here's my interpretation. My daughter pointed out "you left off the strings."

Here's a crappy photo of the detail so you can see the silver ep. I stamped the decoration in versamark and then sprinkled on the silver EP---forgetting that the colored ink wasn't dry enough so of course a light coating of silver stuck to the whole ornament. I decided to try it and thought the results turned out kind of neat.

And as for the strings? I haven't decided if I'm going to go back and add them or not...

Snowflake Sticker Card

You know a few days ago when I said I had completed all the cards I needed. Well, here's a shocker...I miscounted. So now, I think, I am all caught up. But as I said before, I'll still be making a few for just-in-cases.

Today's Sparkle's challenge was to use something you were given on the card. Well I had to really think about it, but then I remembered that so much of my white ribbon came from my mom. She occasionally does flowers for weddings and she always has leftover ribbon. That's where this ribbon came from. Just don't ask me who's wedding because that I don't remember...

It seems like I either don't post for days, or post three times in one day lately. Directly related to levels of exhaustion and nausea. Ha! Yesterday was a really good day so I got several cards made. And let's face it. It's not like my cards are that involved right now.

I need to get working on my Christmas card workshop!! Hopefully my order comes in this week!

I really owe it to Sparkle for making a weekly challenge to make a Christmas card every week! It motivated me to get busy and get them done! Thanks Sparkle!! Looking forward to doing the same next year. {Heck I may even keep going this year to get a headstart for next year...}

Sparkle challenged us this week to use something from nature on our cards. I settled on this treeline rubber stamp I had from years ago. I went for simple and glitter:

The CPS sketch this week immediately made me think of a snowflake!

I bought a silver and gold pen set at Hobby Lobby the other day. I have become quite comfortable (or is it lazy) with hand written sentiments of late.

Two more Chrismas cards

I'm still on that mission to get Christmas cards done. Current count: 11 made, 17 to go.

This first one was made using this week's Mojo Monday Sketch #101.

I worked for hours to get an ornament to hang in the rectangle but couldn't get an ink to match that paper. In the end I scrapped the ornament idea and stamped Santa!

This next card was made for Sparkle's weekly Christmas card challenge. This week she used a sketch. I'm actually really happy with this monochromatic card. I may make another just like it since I have a couple of blue lovers on my card list.

Thanks to all you who gave me well wishes and offered prayers for my spilling the beans post. I am still on cloud nine. I had the blood work done today and am just waiting on a call from the doctor on the results.

This week at Sparkle's Creations, we were challenged to use hot chocolate, tea or coffee imagery on our Christmas card. I loved that idea! Nothing reminds me of warm cozy times more than hot cocoa!

My mom used to get us a Christmas mug every year and we would drink our hot chocolate in it for our Christmas breakfast--while waiting impatiently to open presents! Here's my warmest wishes card:

It's so hot here in Texas (and dry...did I mention?) that it's hard to think of cozy winter mornings, but I did try my best. I even sprinkled some real cinnamon into the Liquid Applique 'whip cream'. Which explains the title of this post...

Christmas Card Challenge #35

Sparkle's challenge this week is to use some element from her card (which is fantastic) to create a Christmas card. I chose to incorporate snowflakes into my card. Well I didn't so much "incorporate" it as make it the entire focus!

This card reminds me of my wedding. We had a little bit of a snowflake theme and my colors were victorian lavender and deep red with touches of silver. Well really the only deep red was in the bridesmaid's bouquets. Anyway, here's the card:

The silver snowflake sticker is left over from my wedding. We would buy them everytime HL would put stickers on sale (the entire stock). I used the small ones in the set for the wedding invitation envelopes, and I used some on the programs and different things like that. I just realized they are nine years old and still sticky--not too bad!

Okay now I'm all nostalgic for wedding pictures. I'm going to dig mine out and see about doing some posting...

This week's Christmas Card Challenge at Sparkle's Creations was to use stickers. I found some dimensional stickers from We R Memory Keepers in my stash. I decided to use the cute little elf and then cut like a million little stamped buttons out to finish it off.

You know for a while now I've put off making 5x5 cards because I like to have envelopes that match my cards. But then I saw all these CTMH people using CD sleeves with the circle windows to make cute little matching envies. LOVE that idea. And we have a huge box (250) of those sitting in the closet. So you will likely be seeing more square cards from me in the future!

Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #33

Sparkle of Sparkle's Creations has a great idea--she is challenging us to make a card a week and then when Christmas rolls around, you'll have all your cards done! It's brilliant really, except that my lazy self has not been playing along...

This week the challenge is to use strips of paper on your card. I really wish I could get the whole paper weaving thing down, so in the spirit of practice practice practice, here's my card.

As you can tell my wEaViNg Is WoNkY. But, with a couple of screaming kids in the tub last night, and a hubby who was trying his best to control the situation so his hormonal wife could veg at the scrap table, I think it turned out ok.
