Last Jewelry Inspiration Challenge!

Stacey's Stamping Stage is getting a blog makeover and along with it she's going to be introducing a fun new challenge. So this will be the last Jewelry Inspiration Challenge. Sniff. I'm a bit sad--I love her showcasing the fascinating jewelry--but I am sure her new challenge will be just as creative and fun!

I also decided to use the Mojo Monday #96 Sketch to complete this card.

The colors felt a bit nautical to me, so I pulled out my New Horizons stamp set and starting working. When it came time to attach a bow, I called up my dad to teach me to tie a nautical knot.

Well it appears that Stacey has been to my house snooping through my patterned paper stash! This week's colors also matched a piece of paper I had perfectly, so I used it.

Especially since CTMH doesn't really have any colors close to the inspiration colors. This paper also had a bright green in it, but I just trimmed that off. Doesn't it kind of look like a swan?

Jewelry Color Inspiration #44

This week over at Stacey's Stamping Stage the challenge was warm earthy colors. Perfect for mid summer heat.



I looked through my patterned paper stash and found--amazingly--a sheet of paper that had all the colors in it. Make my job easy why don't cha?



This is a fairly simple card. I didn't have any smokey plum paper so I brayered some on white cs to make my own. I used those fun Window Charms from CTMH to add some dimension. I cut random pieces of the patterned paper and stuck on the charms, then cut them out and adhered them to the card front.

Jewelry Inspiration Challenge #43

I think this week's challenge at Stacey's Stamping Stage was the hardest I've seen. That bright yellow absolutely threw me. I was so tempted to wimp out and use Buttercup instead of Sunny Yellow. But no, I stuck with it. And in the end I am mostly happy with the turnout.

A card and the most beautifully sweet girls...

Boy did I need some stamping time today! After cleaning house all day yesterday and standing to cook dinner (wrong week of the month for standing up alot)--turns out I spent my Father's day much like I spent my Mother's day right down to the PMS. Then Little m choose to party during the night. Which of course led to Little m being CRANKY and fighting with Little d all morning...



Little d and I decided to relax to some Twilight soundtrack and scrap to our little hearts content while the monkey slept! What better than Stacey's Jewelry Inspiration #42 to work on? I struggled a little to match the orange color. CTMH doesn't have a deep salmon color, so I chose Sorbet.





Here's my card. Don't look too close at the white embossing, I worked on getting the stray particles off with three different paint brushes and then gave up. The flowers are stamped on vellum and then clear embossed. I bent them a little to give some dimension. I really loved this color combo!

A few days ago D worked on our sprinkler system and I let the girls go play in the water...

I have had this cute little construction stamp since before I was a consultant and never (gasp) used it. Hmmm, that seems to be a theme here lately. Anyway, the colors fit perfectly for the stamp set!



Here's a traffic cone story for free. When I was a cop we were issued traffic cones to keep in the trunk of the patrol cars for use at wrecks, holes in the street, etc. They used to threaten us that if we lost one, or left one somewhere and it was stolen, we would have to pay for the replacement cones ourselves. Know how much they were worth? Fifty bucks a piece. We were pretty careful about keeping track of our cones. {snicker snicker I said cones...} May I blame that tasteless joke on the Tylenol Sinus?

What's Black and White...

and turquoise and dark pink and orange? This weeks JCI#39!!

When Stacey posted her Jewelry Inspiration Color Challenge this week I got so inspired to think out of the box. At least, out of my box! I loved the colors, but when I saw the piece of jewelry I thought 'zebra'. Do you see the beadswith the 'zebra stripes'?

So I thought I'd try my hand at drawing stripes. I googled zebra stripes to get some ideas of how real zebras look...I'm ridiculous that way...and freehanded some stripes on black cardstock. I then cut them out and stuck 'em onto glossy white cardstock, (even though it doesn't show in the picture), it gives a great effect in person. Then I just played around until I was satisfied with the rest. I didn't want to cover the stripes too much since I was really thrilled with how they turned out.

And that snazzy teal ribbon is some I picked up at a garage sale and sadly I am starting to run out. I have to start rationing. Do you do that with favorite supplies? When they are running low and you can't get any more? You know, save them for projects that are worthy of them? No? Just crazy me I guess... Anyway here's the card!

Jewelry Color Inspiration Challenge #38

Stacey has challenged us once again. This time with a patriotic flare! Her colors were red, white and blue. And I immediately wanted to do fireworks. I have a couple of stamps that have some 'firework-like' images, so I used those. Here's the inspiration:

I wanted to add a red bow, but it didn't work out in the end. Oh well. I thought this card would make a great birthday card for a July fourth baby. The Prisma glitter really adds some sparkle...that stuff is beautiful and pervasive. It will be everywhere for a while.

Jewelry Color Inspiration Challenge #37

When I saw Stacey's latest color combo I immediately thought of the beach. Maybe that's due to my recent weekend trip, but I knew instantly which stamp I wanted to use (CTMH's Footprints). I also thought the two blues were a little unmatched, so I thought of that mosaic glass tile that is so gorgeous and popular in decorating and BAM that's where this card came from...

I also just could not figure out how to put a sentiment on it and after screwing up TWO attempts with those little squares, I did NOT want to try for a third. So I left it blank.

I used Liquid Glass and did the Cracked Glass Technique on the sand dollar. I am actually really happen with how this card turned out! Thanks for stopping by!!

Jewelry Color Inspiration Challenge #36...

or as I like to call this one...half of my sanity. Hee hee!


The colors seem harmless enough, but when I started working on them...yesterday...it took me forever to get them in some semblance of a card. You can tell from the sentiment I chose, that I am still apologetic about the results. I am sure the rest of you who did this challenge did justice to the colors unlike me. Stacey, consider me stumped on this one!!

Don't get me wrong. I like the layout of the card and will be trying out that ribbon thing on another card surely, BUT I think I needed a different ratio of the colors. Oh well. Stacey you'll still let me play next time, right?

Jewelry Color Inspiration Challenge #35

I'll admit I didn't think this card was going to come together there for a while. I don't have the Dutch Blue or Taffy in paper, so I had to improvise. Oh and fair warning: remember how attached I was to that My Farm (rooster) stamp set for a while? Well Extreme Happiness (hibiscus) is now the new My Farm! So you'll probably be seeing a lot of it! I know I don't usually toot the CTMH horn, but here's a stamp you may want to look into...

Enough about that. Stacey has issued a new Jewelry Challenge and some blog candy on her BLOG. Check it out!! Here's the colors. I chose CTMH's Dutch Blue, Taffy, Sweet Leaf and Colonial White. (That lighter blue in my card is second generation Dutch Blue.)

I think this card will be going to my Dad's mom. I usually try to incorporate blue on her card as it's her favorite color. (good thing since she did have NINE sons.) She also had FIVE daughters if you're keeping track.

Jewelry Color Challenge #34

I got my scraproom organized y'all. Stop. The. Presses. So I rewarded myself by goofing off and playing with a challenge at Stacey's Stamping Stage. The colors were plum, light green, grey or silver and white.


I'm trying an experiment since I don't have my new camera yet. The first picture is without flash to show texture and the second picture is with flash to show the colors better. Which looks better?

As you can tell they were a great help yesterday while we cleaned and moved furniture in the scraproom

Jewelry Color Inspiration #30

HERE's Stacey's new color inspiration. I thought the colors were very modern and fun to work with. I think I pulled about twenty stamp sets out to play with and finally settled on Adorable.





I seem to be headed in the 'keep it simple stupid' direction with my cards lately. Wonder how long that trend will last?

That's what I should have done before I added the "grass" under the eggs on this card, but I didn't. Oh well. I am still mostly happy with it.

I made this card for (yet another) color challenge. But I couldn't pass it up because the colors were so beautiful together and they were screaming Easter to me. (Yes colors talk to me, duh!)

Later I'll post the Easter card I'm sending out, and the reason why I thought I could draw grass on this card. But for now I need to clean my scrap table. Scary. Very Scary.
