935 Showing of Breaking Dawn

I haven't been to a movie at any time in a very long time.  But the last time I went to a 9:30 showing I was dating someone. And it wasn't even D.

But my mom really wanted to go see Breaking Dawn and hey, who am I to stop her?  tee hee

It was a great show.  And L got to come along (we also went to the last one together--during the day).  It was so fun.  Our theater is really comfy too.  The chairs lean a little back with really nice cushy seat and head rests and there's plenty of legroom.  Plus the way it's set up you never get stuck not being able to see over someone's head.  Definitely not like the theater I grew up using.  Anyway--it was a fun time!

The movie was good too.  Except now I have to wait for part two to come out.  Boo.

Tonight is New Year's Eve.  D and I have no party plans.  I'm hoping the kids go to bed at a decent hour so Little d gets back to her school routine.  She has to start back Tuesday.  Not looking forward to that!

Hmm.  I guess I could have some resolutions this year....get in shape?  Sure.  Hopefully lose that last 15 pounds that drives me nuts!  Hmmm.  Relax more and enjoy life.  Uh.  Have more patience!!  NOW!  ha.

I definitely have a to-do list.  (But I'm not sure it qualifies as a resolution.)  It goes a little something like this:

  • get scrap room organized
  • decorate the house (this is dependent upon us selling the old house and getting some moolah to buy new furniture.)
  • get the tile work done in kitchen and bathroom
  • get vent hood installed in kitchen
  • get pot filler faucet installed in sink
  • turn Little md's room into Little md's room
  • do some landscaping
  • plant a successful garden
  • do some meal planning, freezer dinners
  • build a couple of bunk beds
  • re-wax the floors
  • get bookshelves finished in hallway and living room
  • get glass front installed in kitchen cabinets
  • do all the touch up paint
  • paint the front door
  • new wardrobe  (this is dependent on me getting back to at least 115)
  • be a successful CTMH consultant...
I'm sure there's more.  I'm going to revisit this whole list in the future--at least that's the plan.

Any New Year's Resolutions?

Nah.

I'm not one to make too many resolutions, but I have an overwhelming since of starting fresh this year. Kind of like an early attack of spring cleaning. (Or very very late, since it should have been done last year.)

I think the reason is several-fold.

One, this December (thanks to each family Christmas celebration) the girls have come down with two colds in one month. And I have an urge to Lysol the entire house.

Two, there is hardly a clean surface to set the mail down on when you walk in the door. In fact today as I was cleaning a stack of old mail off the counter, I found not one, but two unopened Christmas cards. One was postmarked December 14th! Shameful! Thank goodness I had already included them in my card mailout.

Three, the mess doesn't end there. Clothes. Piles and piles of clothes. And over half of them don't fit anyone in this house. So why are they still taking up valuable real estate???

Four, we have a boy child on the way--and no place to put him or his paraphernalia!

Five, the tree is still up! And it's real, remember? That means vacuuming needles on a regular basis. You know, like when I get off my lazy booty. And the huge Barbie dollhouse that the girls got for Christmas is in the middle of the floor because until the tree is down, there is no room for it.

Six, back to the boy child on the way. I need to get things done before he gets here and there is no room (or time) to do crafty stuff (like finishing Little's m's Christening blanket so I can start on his Or working on about 50 birth announcements) without reorganizing the house.

So long story longer, I need to make a New Year's Resolution this year (and keep it). I need to re-organize this house and pack away stuff we don't need until we move to the new one. The hard part is having the energy. Seriously, when these attacks of organization usually hit, I go through like a whirlwind getting the room, or closet, or whatever it is finished--fast as fast. But there is not so much whirl in my wind....tee-hee. That means I have to do little bits at a time, and that gets frustrating!

Oh well. I'm not down about it. Just on a mission! And guess what came in the mail yesterday? Scrapbooks Etc. Now I have to put reading that on hold...(and you know how I feel about that!)

Stuff

The sheer volume of stuff that has accumulated in this house is amazing to me. I am in the process of my New Year of Organization. Today's task: my daughters' room. First there is the surface cleaning. I have to put the forty-five books back on the shelf. Put all the thirty five princess dresses in a tote. Gather all the baby dolls and stuff the stuffed animals together. BUT there are so many toys (what with Christmas just occurring) that their room is full to the brim. I have no problem getting rid of toys mind you. But Little d...

"But mom, I know I never use my vacuum cleaner, but when Little m wakes up, I will vacuum my room."

"I really love those dolls" {that she hasn't touched in over a year, that were bought at HEB for two dollars}. She finally agreed we could give them to a little girl who doesn't have any dolls, but she gave them goodbye kisses first.

Then of course as we find toys she hasn't seen in a while she MUST play with them right now. In the middle of the floor. Am I a bad mom because when she took a break from 'helping' and went downstairs I madly threw McDonald Happy Meal toys and pieces and parts and broken colors and broken hair barrettes in the trash bag?

I must not be that bad of a mom. I did save the leg of a Barbie. After all, Little m likes to chew on it.

New Years Resolutions

As I've mentioned before I don't do the resolution thing. But this year I am making an exception. I have a full plate this year and, being a listmaker, I thought why not make a list of New Year's Resolutions and see how it works.

  • Exercise. I am happy (mostly) with my weight. But I really want to get in better shape. For my health and happiness. I need to start some sort of cardio. I have a treadmill and I love it. Now that Little m is a little older, I think I could use it during the day while she plays.
  • Organization. My house has too much stuff. Way too much. I am purging it all. Okay not all, but a LOT!
  • Eating healthy food. I have family history of diabetes and high cholesterol and I need to start eating the right stuff. More veggies of the green variety.

Weellll. That about covers it.

Happy New Year!!!!
