Linked In {and Louse Update}

No, not like the networking site.  Although I might have a profile there too, not sure.  I meant I am completely linked in as far as the CTMH stuff goes.  Now I'm just trying to get things started for a Launch Party.

Well, I'm not trying all that hard.  Mostly I'm trying to keep the rest of the house louse-free.  And so far, success.

Here's what happened.  Little d came home from school Tuesday (of last week) and as I was getting her hair ready for dance, I noticed these small white dots in her hair.  Firmly attached.  What the hell??!

I immediately called my BFF.  She answered her cell with "Can I call you back I'm at Ellie's?" (the hairdresser)

I told her "No!" so she knew it was serious.  She confirmed that I was probably looking at lice eggs.  Ugh and Ick.

They offered a few suggestions, and I also called the pediatrician.  Over the counter stuff first his office said.

Off to Walgreens.  Again.  And this time I didn't even stop to look at the polishes.  Yeah.  It was for real.  First  I let her eat dinner because I knew that she needed that before we even started to work on the hair.  To do the shampoo I laid her out on the counter and washed her hair over the sink.  I didn't want her soaking in a tub of pesticide.  Next began the nit-picking task of umm well nit picking.

All total we spent about three hours on the process.  About two thirds through the nit-picking, Little d was getting incredibly tired, cranky and started crying.  My back was killing me and I was freaking out over whether or not the whole thing was going to work and whether or not I would be dealing with this with the other two...or me....or D.

So I did the only thing I could think of.  I started singing.   I can't stand the rain....outside my window....bringing back sweet memories.  Do do do do dah  Do do do do do bop bop.

Little d stopped crying.  "What are you singing??"

"A song from when I was little."

"Sing it again."  So I did.  I mean the little I knew of it.  Then I had my mom find it on her laptop and we all jammed to it.

"The tide is high and I'm moooovin' on....I'm gonna be your nuuuuumber one.  I'm not the kind of girl who gives up just like thaaaaaat noooooooo."

"Oh I know that one mom!"  So then we sang to that together.

D poked his head in the dining room.  "Hey that sounded pretty good!"  He of course knew none of these songs.

For the grand finale?

"Won't you take me to....funkytown....won't you take me to funkytown!?"

By the time we were through, all of us were laughing.  I have to say even though there were lice involved....one of the best nights ever.  My daughter is one amazing kid.  What a blessed mom I am.
