Updates {Little md turns two}

I'm going to make a long post about what's been going on since I just realized how long it's been since I updated!!

Little md

Just look at that face.  Tell me you wouldn't want to kiss that everyday!

Tomorrow (or today depending on when I finish this) he turns two.  He can even hold up the two fingers to prove it.  He loves all things tractor.  That includes dump trucks, front end loaders, you get the idea.  So even though I thought monsters would be a cute party theme....I knew that he would prefer construction.

I got the idea for this cake on pinterest (of course) but did some editing.  It turned out way better than I thought it would.

I had been fully prepared for this to be Little md's mulligan cake.  As in the year I totally screwed up his birthday cake/party. The year Little d started school was her mulligan cake.  I didn't even make one.  I let my MIL make cupcakes instead--which she iced with cream cheese frosting, after I told her that might upset Little d's stomach.  Ahem.  Little m hasn't had a mulligan yet.  What do you think?  Does this cake pass?  Do I still get a mulligan at some later date for Little md, too?

In case you were wondering what those little patches of colorful dots are...

It's grass with wildflowers of course.

Little md seems to enjoy his cake.

And so did I.  As evidenced here by my husband...the photographer.  Ahem.

You're certainly welcome for that picture.

It was a fun afternoon.  Little md got toys, a pool full of balls and a bubble machine.  Don't forget the remote control monster truck!  Why, what else does that boy do in his spare time you ask?  Practice his planking on the kitchen table...

Ah but lest I forget to mention.  Not only is he a champ at eating his cake he can also blow out the candles all by himself.

Just please don't sing that Happy Birthday song again!

Little d

This girl is amazing.  She's so smart.  And now always reading.  Here's a little picture of her posing before her dance recital pictures.  The recital is in a couple of weeks.  (I'll be the one crying while her two beautiful daughters are dancing on stage.)  This is her jazz costume.  For the broadway theme her dance here is from grease "We Go Together" like rama lama ding dang.  Or however that song goes.  HA.  Anyway-she's the cutest Pink Lady I've ever seen....

Little m

Who is NOT little.  Just ask her.  And in her recital she gets to shout "momma I'm a big girl now!!"  And shout she does.  Not just at dance practice.  She is just generally loud.  I tease that in twenty five years I'll be telling Oprah how we used to tell our world famous opera singing daughter to please stop yelling!!!!  I really do think she's could shatter a glass.  Or a brain.  Mine.

Oh I'm too tired to make this any longer.  :)

This just in....

I've walked on the treadmill for three mornings in a row.  Some sort of pattern??

Tomorrow is Little d's first 'out of town' field trip.  To a dairy farm.  D says I should take notes.  You may remember my obsession with wanting to raise chickens?  Well I've recently become enamored with the idea of having a dairy cow.  The fact that I can't really eat dairy has not completely escaped me...

Still. working. on. CTMH. stuff.

Sally's has nail polish buy two get one free.  This will break all my reserve for not buying new polish.

Three day week-end, are we there yet?!?

Eight more weeks of school--can't wait for summer!

Linked In {and Louse Update}

No, not like the networking site.  Although I might have a profile there too, not sure.  I meant I am completely linked in as far as the CTMH stuff goes.  Now I'm just trying to get things started for a Launch Party.

Well, I'm not trying all that hard.  Mostly I'm trying to keep the rest of the house louse-free.  And so far, success.

Here's what happened.  Little d came home from school Tuesday (of last week) and as I was getting her hair ready for dance, I noticed these small white dots in her hair.  Firmly attached.  What the hell??!

I immediately called my BFF.  She answered her cell with "Can I call you back I'm at Ellie's?" (the hairdresser)

I told her "No!" so she knew it was serious.  She confirmed that I was probably looking at lice eggs.  Ugh and Ick.

They offered a few suggestions, and I also called the pediatrician.  Over the counter stuff first his office said.

Off to Walgreens.  Again.  And this time I didn't even stop to look at the polishes.  Yeah.  It was for real.  First  I let her eat dinner because I knew that she needed that before we even started to work on the hair.  To do the shampoo I laid her out on the counter and washed her hair over the sink.  I didn't want her soaking in a tub of pesticide.  Next began the nit-picking task of umm well nit picking.

All total we spent about three hours on the process.  About two thirds through the nit-picking, Little d was getting incredibly tired, cranky and started crying.  My back was killing me and I was freaking out over whether or not the whole thing was going to work and whether or not I would be dealing with this with the other two...or me....or D.

So I did the only thing I could think of.  I started singing.   I can't stand the rain....outside my window....bringing back sweet memories.  Do do do do dah  Do do do do do bop bop.

Little d stopped crying.  "What are you singing??"

"A song from when I was little."

"Sing it again."  So I did.  I mean the little I knew of it.  Then I had my mom find it on her laptop and we all jammed to it.

"The tide is high and I'm moooovin' on....I'm gonna be your nuuuuumber one.  I'm not the kind of girl who gives up just like thaaaaaat noooooooo."

"Oh I know that one mom!"  So then we sang to that together.

D poked his head in the dining room.  "Hey that sounded pretty good!"  He of course knew none of these songs.

For the grand finale?

"Won't you take me to....funkytown....won't you take me to funkytown!?"

By the time we were through, all of us were laughing.  I have to say even though there were lice involved....one of the best nights ever.  My daughter is one amazing kid.  What a blessed mom I am.

Little md

Today (as has been our schedule for the past few days) he woke at 1130am.  He tends to fall asleep just anywhere around 6pm.  Then (and this is the part I heart the most) he stays awake until 3am.  In the ever loving morning.  Sigh.  Can't wait for D to be off nights so he can help get him back to normal.

Good thing he's so stinkin' cute....

This evening he was hanging out in his room on the new bed watching Nick Jr.

I sneaked in and got a picture.  Notice how he didn't move.  Just looked at me with his eyes.

So many times a day I am thankful this little boy made it into my life.  What a great addition he is to our family.  He's very lovable, even though now he's entering the terrible twos.  His tantrums are marvelously epic.  But he has just now started giving kisses.  Before he would just turn his cheek for you to give him a kiss.

He hardly takes the 'baa' (pacifier) out of his mouth.  And he would drink a bottle several times a day if I let him.  I try to keep the pacifier from him so he will start talking.  He's got a few words in his vocabulary.

Baa:  pacifier
Bah-uul:  bottle
Pees:  please (followed by "pe pe pe pe pe pe" with hands clasped under chin)
Dah: which can mean Dad, ice, yes, or many other things.  Just depends on the context.
Nowah:  no
Meh:  Me or his name, he always says this when pointing to his chest.
Mah: mom
side: or something like it to mean outside
Go: go
Mowah: more
bye: bye
ni-ni: night night
hi: hi
Wah wah: water
pow: shooting a gun noise
mote: for remote
beh: bed
gah-ya: got cha!
moo-it: move it! (like out of my way!)

And my all time favorite....neuw-won, which means new one.  As in baa.  As in new pacifier please I can't find my old one.  It's so adorable, I must get it on video.

He eats just about anything we give him, then finishes what's on everyone else's plate.  He's very tall and muscular.  Such a little man.  Still--no hair to speak of.  So more like a little bald man--ha.  I love it.

Almost two, my baby.

Spring Break

has been wonderful!!!  A whole week of NO school!

For starters, I somehow managed to get the house cleaned.  We also got a new twin bed in Little md's room which means I have room to move the treadmill in there.  It already has a TV, so now I can workout in the mornings and keep an eye on the kids.  Skinny butt here I come!

The kids are completely off schedule...it took about nine seconds of Spring Break for that to happen.  I'm okay with it.  For now...

I got a Cricut Imagine.  I know...it's huge.  But I think I got it for a pretty good deal.

I actually am finding small blocks of time during the day to work on the 'new' CTMH business.

And yes, yes I am still buying nail polish....but I told myself after the last purchase that was IT.

:)

Started a little something, did I?

Well the new blog is up and running.  Oh yeah.  And I signed up for CTMH again.  My new upline seems awesome.  She lives in California and we've already exchanged a couple of emails.  I'm going to try to make this a working business more than a hobby.

So the new blog.  It's called Everything She Touches.  As in all the crafty stuff I do.  I desperately don't want to link it here.  The reason is I don't want feedjit traffic over there to show this address.  In case MIL goes snooping.  I'm planning on linking that blog to my FB and whatever else.  Plus using it strictly for 'business' craft stuff.  I'm not going to tell personal family stuff over there and have pictures of the kiddos.  That's what this blog is for.  So I also would never link to here from there.

I asked my brother for advice about putting a link here for my other site and he worked on it and couldn't get the address cloaked-so to speak.  But reading through someone else's blog I found out that I could just type the address here duh and not link it.  So if you want to visit there, you'd have to copy and paste.

Here is it.   http://everythingshetouches.blogspot.com/  So hopefully that works to keep them separate.  :)  If not, ah hell.  I haven't told any lies on here anyway.  :)

If you do pop over and check it out, let me know what you think.  It's very much a work in progress.  I am planning on adding links to my FB, Pinterest, and maybe eventually MyCTMH page if I get one.

I'm going to try to keep it upbeat, humorous, and fun.  So not like this blog at all HA!

Okay--off to play on that blog for a while.  Oh and guess who has pink eye again--that's right, this girl!!  I can't even make this shit up.

Back It Up

I just followed this advice to back up my blog...

I really would like to get it printed into a book, I should look into that.

Dallas Glitter!

Remember when I went to the Dallas game and did a silver glitter manicure.  Well on a trip to the grocery store I recently found the PERFECT polish to wear the next time I get to go to a game!!  It's a Sally Hansen polish called Showgirl Chic.  I tried it out over a solid white polish (China Glaze White on White) and LOVED it.  Here's a really poor picture of it.

Little d had it on her nails too.  (without the white undercoat)

Uhg.  What a rotten picture.

{This was a scheduled post.}

Just a tiny scrapbook project

It's been eons since I did anything scrapbook-y.  But after tackling the scrapbook room clean up (I should totally post before and after pictures.  Maybe another day.) I felt all creative.  Supplies left on my desk (until the Great Scrapbook Room Re-Oganization Project gets underway) were a new punch from SU! and a stack of DCWV paper.  So I did this.

I just felt so creative doing such a simple little pennant banner.  I am having a time looking for a good location to photograph scrap stuff.  My room doesn't have a window so I moved it to the kitchen windowsill, but the day is overcast.

I heart this paper so much.  It's Nana's Nursery, Baby Girl by Die Cuts With a View.  I just have the little stack, and I wonder if they still make it in 12x12.  I should totally get the boy version for Little md's baby book.  Which is of course not even started.  In fact, Little m's is not started either.  For shame.  These will be my first projects to complete scrapbook wise!

Have a good one!

Just for fun

Here's a list of my current media thingies.

On the DVR:  Bethanny Ever After, Top Chef, any Real (ish) Housewife, Dance Moms.  Yes I love trashy reality TV.

On the Kindle:  re-reading The Hunger Games, finished The Host, about a million samples I need to read.

On the blog roll:  anything to do with nail polish or crochet.

On the YouTube playlist:  Brett Dennen (Comeback Kid), Reba, Kelly Clarkson, Regina Spektor (Fidelity), Adele (Someone Like You), Goyte (Someone that I Used to Know)

On the plate (as in what I'm snacking on right this second....) Twinkie and Doritos.

Ta-Dah!

Who knew October could be so busy?? (In February)

I guess that's a rhetorical question, but really. This month is ridulous.

D joined the local volunteer fire department.

Birthday parties, girl scouts, cookbook committee, PTO, fall festival, CCD.

D's old employer sold his unit to a new company. New pay, new insurance.

Both girls signed up for dance. Little m and Little md have colds.

(Originally written in October--I'm cleaning out my drafts folder...)

Cirque de Symphonie

Or some such spelling.

Little d and I went last night to the new Fine Arts Center and watched the acrobats perform while the orchestra played. It was amazing! It was like (what I imagine) Cirque de Soleil does. Very impressive. I wish we could have taken pictures. I especially loved the look on Little d's face as it lit up with all the feats. She practically was squealing! Of course the numbers in between the acrobats wore thin for her during the second act, she behaved so well though.

(This draft was saved in my posts so I decided to go ahead with it for the sake of remembering it later--originally written in September)

Must be just me....

I doubt anyone remembers the last time I went to the gynocologist and forgot my socks in my purse.  And that brief argument I had with myself about whether or not to jump off the table and risk bending over in my paper 'dress' to retrieve them before the doc entered the room.  Ah well.  It was a funny post.  I tried to find it, but it was taking too long.  Anyway.  Today I had to make that pilgrimage again.

My doc has changed nurses, and flipped over to the other side of the facility so I was all disoriented, plus for the first time in MANY years I was not there for anything to do with pregnancy.  I mean usually when I go in for my yearly it's to say...we're thinking about trying again.  But this time no.  So anyway, the appointment was running late so I texted my mom (who was watching the three incubators of germs) that it seemed like I was going to be there for a while.

I proceeded to get called back within minutes.  I changed into my paper attire (the vest has buttons now!  uptown!) and sat to wait.  Of course that's when mom texted me back.  My phone was paces away in my jeans.  I figured it was her.  (She has this fun habit of having to get the last word in with texting.  It's not even intentional.)  Anyway.  I ended up waiting another 45 minutes for the doc to come in, so I had pleeeenty of time to get my phone, but I didn't of course.  But I sat there (sweating in the freezing room) remembering the blog post about the socks and trying not to laugh out loud.

In typing this post I noticed that my pasts post have the worst titles for trying to find what the post was about.  Boo for me.
