Baby Buggy Card

Leslie asked why I would ever use a rubber stamp. And I have to agree, I love my acrylic!! When I was deciding to sign up as a consultant I looked online at Stampin' Up products, and admit that their stamp images are divine. I love the style and the variety. BUT, acrylic is the only reason I ever got into stamping. When my BFF would drag me to these CTMH workshops I would groan every time we had to stamp. (I'm sure the consultant just loved me.) Then one time we used the clear stamps and suddenly I was hooked! I started buying stamps and bought a set of acrylic blocks off of eBay. (Little did I know that CTMH blocks are SO much more comfortable for stamping!)

But still I am drawn to some rubber stamps, so occasionally I buy some. Especially if it's in the clearance bin at Hobby Lobby! HA! But just a couple of days ago I saw this post by Diana Gibbs about using tacky glue to make rubber stamps adhere to acrylic blocks. She has a video demonstration. And you should check out her blog if you don't already, not only does she have great tips and cards, she's always sharing funny little anecdotes! Anyway, I'm thinking about trying her idea...have any of you ever tried it?

Oh yeah, the card... I made this using my new Puns from the Past. I put Scotch tape over the sentiment, inked the stamp, and then pulled off the tape. Then I stamped it onto my Vanilla Cream cs. Next I stamped Congratulation from another stamp set on that same piece of cs.

The ribbon is actually folded paper. I found that after I made the pleats it was better to crease them with my bone folder.

And how yummy is that K&CO. paper? Okay off to play some more...

Details: all CTMH unless noted
Paper: Vanilla Cream cs, Colonial White cs, both patterns (K & Company)
Ink: Tulip and Desert Sand (for inking edges)
Stamps: Fringed Phrases, Puns from the Past (SU!)
Other: foam squares, sponge daubers

Ok, so I'm in love with the idea of using the paper instead of ribbon!! I'm not a sewer AT ALL and I love how the pleated ribbon looks but can't do it but I could SO do the paper!! Great card!

I thought that was ribbon, how tricky! I'm pretty good at eyeballing it with my rubber, but never as perfect as with the acrylic. I just love those wood blocks though! And why has no one ever mentioned that tape trick? Genious!

This is so sweet! I love acrylic stamps too. My main reason is that I can line them up better! I still use some wood mounted stamps, but I prefer clear because they also ship lighter... very important when it is $8 a lb to ship here!
